WALKING

A great region that is the least explored. There is a great selection of hiking and walking paths across colourful meadows and up to panoramic ridges; the views of Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano are unparalleled.

BIKING

An area that ought to be discovered. The Ticino Bike Card is a great way to combine the majestic scenery of the Alps with the mild-climate of the lake towns. Hire includes bike and helmet from CHF 39 per adult per day.

GOLF

Golf enthusiasts will love Ticino’s wonderful courses.

Lugano:

18 holes; Par 70; Length 5575m; Altitude 290m; HCP 30; Green fees from CHF 10 per day.

ON THE WATER

From swimming on the lakes to pedal boat rental, or waterskiing to sailing, the Ticino region offers it all. The opportunity to sail on Lakes Verbano (Maggiore) or Ceresio (Lugano), is a wonderful way to relax.

MARKETS

Lugano’s flowers, fruits and vegetables market runs on Tuesday and Friday mornings. The Bellinzana market is well worth the trip on a Saturday morning with a great range of produce and crafts.

All prices are in Swiss Francs and are based on 2010 rates which may be subject to change.

Lake Lugano

We love it for:
  • Mediterranean climate
  • Beautiful lakeside settings & clourful piazzas
  • Lugano's Blues to Bop festival
  • Italian influences

The Lugano valley was once at the hub of Europe's trade routes, and this is reflected in the grandeur of the historic buildings to be found in many towns and villages around the famous lake.

Visit Lugano's museums to discover how the troubled history of the region in the 19th century shaped its future as a place of tranquility and relaxation for visitors of many nations. For those drawn by natural history, the area has several natural cave systems open to the public and an excellent museum of speleology.

On the lake, sailing dinghies and pedalos are available to the more energeic. Don't miss the many music festivals held throughout the summer months, celebrating a variety of musical styles from classical to jazz to blues.
