Why we love it...
- Historic and geographic heart of Switzerland
- Breathtaking Lake Lucerne
- Medieval city of Lucerne
It's perfect for...
- Golf - 7 courses within 45mins of Lucerne
- Sightseeing and steamer trips on the lake
- Endless walking possibilities in the mountains
Breathtaking scenery, limitless excursion possibilities, picturesque lakeside villages and the famous town of Lucerne itself - few destinations can match the appeal of the "Vierwaldstättersee" (Lake of the Four Forest Cantons).
Choose a relaxing holiday with lakeside lidos, flower decked promenades and parks, or experience a more active stay exploring the surrounding area. Lake Lucerne features the world's largest fleet of paddle steamers on an inland lake and their long tradition offers a relaxing way of getting about, as they ply their way between the lakeside villages.
The area is steeped in history and legend, from the foundation of the Swiss Confederation back in 1291 to the William Tell story. The mountains and meadows that surround the lake are fabulous walking country. There are many cable cars and mountain railways to take you up to the prepared walking trails high in the Alpine meadows.
