Bernina Express
A unique journey of approx 5 hours linking the resorts of Davos or St Moritz to Tirano with a three-hour post bus connection to Lugano. The Bernia Express is the highest rail journey in Europe, climbing to an incredible 2253m above sea level and connects northern and southern Switzerland in a truly relaxed and uniquely beautiful way. Glacier Express
A unique 8 hour journey from Davos or St Moritz across the Swiss Alps to Zermatt and the world famous Matterhorn. The Glacier Express, the world's slowest Express train, runs daily between Zermatt and St Moritz or Davos or vice versa. The train climbs to an impressive 2033m via Oberwald and Realp. There is either a restaurant car or 'in seat' catering on the train so you can enjoy a relaxing lunch as you pass through alpine meadows, dramatic mountain peaks and deep gorges. Swiss National Park
With an area of 172 sq km, the Swiss National Park is the largest nature reserve and only national park in Switzerland. The region is in Engadin/Münstertal and encompasses alpine terrain at altitudes of 1,400 to 3,200 metres above sea level. The foundation of the Swiss National Park in 1914 was a milestone in the history of nature conservation. It was the first nationaal park of the Alps and central Europe, and is famed for its abundance of alpine flora and fauna in a pristine landscape.
Morteratsch Glacier
The Morteratsch Glacier is the largest glacier by area in the Bernina Range, nestled in an imposing mountain setting. From Pontresina you take the Rhättische Bahn railway two stops to Morteratsch, a trip of 9 minutes. The picturesque glacier nature trail at the foot of Piz Bernina leads from Hotel Morteratsch through the middle of the preceding pasture to the current tip of the Morteratsch Glacier. 20 stopping points are signposted by number throughout the area. A pocket book or detailed guide can provide information on local climatology, geology ad botany.
