8 DAY BERNESE OBERLAND SELF GUIDED WALKING WEEK
WENGEN - GRINDELWALD - MEIRINGEN
Against the magical mountain peaks of the Eiger, Monch and Jungrau, walk the legendary Barentrek (Bear Trail) at your own pace. This self- guided walking week allows you to tailor your routes, taking mountain cable cars along the way. There’ll also be plenty of time for relaxing and exploring the villages of Wengen, Grindelwald and Meiringen.
Day 1. Transfer by train to Wengen, your base for two nights stay. Overnight in Wengen.
Day 2. Spend the day at leisure in Wengen or enjoy one of several recommended excursions. A trip to the Jungfraujoch, Trummelbachfalle waterfalls or a boat trip on Lake Thun or Lake Brienz are popular options. Overnight in Wengen.
Day 3. Make your way to Grindelwald via the lush slopes of Kleine Scheidegg. This route can be shortened with cable cars and mountains railways (0-5hrs walking). Overnight in Grindelwald.
Day 4 and 5. Spend two days based in Grindelwald, exploring the
town and local region such as Interlaken or Ischboden Alpine Bird Park. Overnight in Grindelwald.
Day 6. Walk through pastures of the Horbach, then hike onwards to the Reichebach falls before continuing to Meiringen. This route can be shortened with cable cars and mountain railways (0-61/2 hrs walking). Overnight in Meiringen.
Day 7. At leisure in the pretty mountain town of Meiringen or visit Ballenberg Musuem or Aare Gorge. Overnight in Meiringen.
Day 8. Take the train back to the airport for your return flight home or choose to extend your holiday in another resort or city.
