Mürren
Nestling on a mountain terrace above the Lauterbrunnen valley at 1645m, this is an absolutely delightful and traditional little Alpine village. It is in a picturesque spot and virtually car free, with access only by cable car from Lauterbrunnen or by 2 stage cable car from Stechelberg (cars must be left in either village). You will be enchanted by its little narrow streets and flower-decked chalets, whilst the views are breathtaking. Throughout the village there are cosy little stublis and cafes with open terraces where you can enjoy afternoon tea or relax with a drink in the evenings.
The choice of walks around Mürren offers possibilitiles for those who just want an afternoon stroll, as well as for the keen walker who wants to try the high Alpine paths. Above Mürren rises the great peak of the 2970m Schilthorn mountain and this can be reached by cable car from the village. At the summit there is a superb revolving restaurant with magnificent views. You could also take the Allmendhubel funicular or admire the amazing views of the Jungfrau from the train. Interlaken, Wengen, Grindelwald and the Jungfraujoch are all easily accessible from Mürren.
