Grindelwald
We love it for...
- Dramatic setting beneath the Eiger
- Excellent base to visit Jungfraujoch
- Family friendly resort with devoted kid’s summer programme
Situated amongst Alpine meadows and at the foot of the mighty Eiger, Grindelwald is one of the jewels of the Bernese Oberland. The village itself is at 1034m at the head of the pretty valley that stretches up from Zweilutschinen and Interlaken. It is a lively little place with a variety of hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants and a leisurely holiday atmosphere.
There are good rail connections with Interlaken so the whole of the Bernese Oberland is yours to explore. This is superb walking country and the 'First' Gondola lift can take you up the easy way to 2168m from where there are wonderful walks back to Grindelwald. Alternatively, for an excellent round trip, take the Gondola to Mannlichen, from where you can enjoy a walk to Kleine Scheidegg and then take the little mountain railway back to Grindelwald.
